Palmer Lake Art Group Schedule
The Palmer Lake Art Group holds general meetings at the Vaile Hill Gallery, 118 Hillside Road, Palmer Lake, Colorado on the second Wednesday of every month except except July. The meetings start with a social hour at 9:30 a.m., followed by a business meeting at 10 a.m. After the business meeting, at approximately 11 a.m. there is a program covering some aspect of art or art business. These programs are provided by local members or by invited guests and in the past have covered watercolor techniques, silk painting, digital printing, sculpture, and acrylic techniques amongst others.
The meetings at the gallery can take place at other locations which are publicized ahead of time. If District 38 is not in session due to weather conditions, the meeting for the month is cancelled. When the roads are bad, the meeting may be moved to the TriLakes Center for the Arts for that one meeting.
The December meeting is the annual Christmas Banquet, and takes place at a local restaurant. This meeting requires reservations, and prepayment. There is a gift exchange, and the time is usually later than a normal meeting. The Christmas Banquet is a fun time for all.
The June meeting is reserved for a potluck, and is sometimes scheduled at an alternate location, usually a member's home, or at a local park. The program for this meeting is the election of officers for the coming year.
The art group sponsors two fine art shows each year, one in the winter and a juried show each spring/early summer. Our current scholarship winners are announced at the spring show and their work is exhibited there. PLAG also sponsors a Christmas Craft Fair the first weekend in October at the Palmer Lake Town Hall. It features a wide variety of craft items and baked goods. Entry fees for the shows and proceeds from the Craft Fair all go toward the expenses of the group and the scholarship fund.
